Nst (non-streess test)

Nst (non-streess test)
Based on the fetal heartbeat and its relationship with baby movements, "fetal distress" is a test used to screen for the probability of the baby being deprived of oxygen ("nonstress": a word for no labor "stress"). For this reason, the nonstress test always has the feature of being a test performed before the birth begins. Two separate probes, one of which detects the baby's heartbeat and the other contractions, are placed in the mother's abdomen. The perceived contractions and heart sounds are transferred by the device on a graph paper. During this process, which lasts for about 20 minutes, pregnant women are asked to press a small button given to their hands whenever they feel the baby's movements. Thus; The baby's heart rate and reactivity (variables in pulse rate), the contractions in the uterus and the responses of the baby's heart to these contractions are evaluated by the physician to obtain indirect information about the baby's health.
